FanBase Changelog #2

We're excited to share FanBase’s latest product updates, featuring significant user experience improvements, enhanced security measures, and expanded capabilities for brands.
What’s New
Enhanced User Experience
Streamlined Onboarding Flow - We've simplified the onboarding experience with a new pop-up-based flow that significantly reduces friction during signup. New users can now join communities faster, which we hope will lead to improved conversion rates.
Collaborative Events - Unlike traditional events, these require collective effort from all community members to reach shared milestones and unlock rewards.
How it works:
- Admins set collective goals that all members work toward together
- Real-time progress tracking shows how everyone's contributions add up
- When milestones are reached, all participants receive the same rewards
The first collaborative event launches soon on the XBorg Community App. This feature is powerful for building a sense of community, hence a feature that esports teams are particularly excited about.
On-Chain Integrations
Token-Gated Quests - Admins can now gate access based on specific token holdings. This opens up new possibilities for exclusive content and rewards based on fans' on-chain activity. Ninjas In Pyjamas will actively utilise this new feature on The Dojo to offer gated experiences to $DOJO holders.
New Minting Flow - We're introducing user-initiated minting, starting with Ninjas in Pyjamas fans who will be able to mint their wearables on Chiliz. This represents a shift from our previous fully abstracted approach with Team Liquid. This flow was also a prerequisite to enable users to sign transactions themselves in the future.
On-Chain Wearable Burning - Previously exclusive to the XBorg Community App, the ability to burn on-chain wearables is now available across all FanBase applications, including MyBlue (the feature will be enabled soon). This gives wearables more utility as fans can choose to burn those items to earn additional XP or Points.
Expanded Gaming Coverage
New Valorant Quest Templates - Our quest template library continues to grow with 16 new Valorant templates, bringing our total to over 150 templates across multiple games and social platforms. This expansion enables teams to create more diverse and engaging experiences for fans.
Admin Panel Improvements
AI-Powered Translation - A big focus for us is to make it easier for esports teams to manage their FanBase apps, and this feature is doing just that. Admins can now automatically localise all their dynamic content, such as quest descriptions.
Custom Rewards Processing - We’ve implemented a new dedicated section that simplifies the management of custom rewards, making it easier for admins to process and distribute prizes like Steam cards to raffle winners. This streamlines what was previously a complex manual process.
Security & Quality of Life
Beyond the major security overhaul detailed below, we've implemented numerous quality of life improvements, including enhanced score-based events, bug fixes, and performance optimisations across the platform.
Deep Dive: New Security Measures
Security and integrity are critical when working with large organisations. We've invested significant resources in a complete security refactor to ensure our platform maintains the highest standards while preventing abuse and maintaining authentic engagement metrics.
Account Activation Requirements
We've implemented a sophisticated activation system designed to prevent referral abuse while maintaining a smooth user experience:
The Activation Process:
- Users must complete 5 quests and connect 3 social accounts to become "activated"
- Only activated users can generate working invite links
- Only activated users generate referral credits for those who invited them
- Communities can gate specific high-value quests behind activation status
This system ensures that only genuine, engaged users can participate in referral programs, preventing bot farms from inflating community metrics.
Social Account Connection Limits
To combat automated account creation and maintain platform integrity, we've implemented strict but fair limits:
Per-Account Limits:
- Each social profile (Twitter, Discord, Steam, etc.) can only be linked to one account
- This prevents users from creating multiple accounts with the same social profiles
Lifetime & Daily Limits:
- Each social account has a lifetime limit of 5 total connections across all FanBase apps
- Maximum 2 new connections per social account every 24 hours
- These limits accommodate legitimate use cases, like account recovery, while preventing mass botting
Enhanced Team Management
Streamlined Admin System:
- New invite flow making it easier for esports teams to onboard new admins
- Clear visibility of all team members and their access levels
- Simplified permission model with equal access for all admins
Administrative Override Capabilities
For edge cases and exceptional circumstances, platform administrators can:
- Manually adjust activation status
- Temporarily bypass social connection limits with time-based exceptions
- Manage connection history to resolve legitimate user issues
Cross-Community Safeguards
Additional security measures prevent unauthorised cross-community access, ensuring each team's data and user base remains protected and isolated.
Looking Ahead
These updates represent our ongoing commitment to building the most powerful and secure infrastructure that powers the world’s best fan experiences. As we continue to onboard more tier-1 organisations, maintaining the delicate balance between user experience and platform integrity becomes increasingly critical.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to evolve the FanBase platform. For any questions about these updates or to discuss with our team, join us on Discord.
